CNY Lunch with Colleagues

Before everyone's heading back to their hometown to celebrate CNY masing-masing, we went for a simple lunch at Kim Gary as our 'xiu gang jiu' (a meal to indicate finish work).

Due to the fact that we have to dig money from our own pocket to pay for this meal, I ordered something which is cheap and big. (not really that big anyway) but it is only at RM9.90. Okay lo, I just need rice to feed my stomach before i go back to the lab and freeze myself there.

Pork chop rice - not bad

Fren A ordered Korean-style instant noodle as maggi is her all-time favourite.
The soup tastes good...

Fren B ordered some kinda spicy mee and it turns out very spicy... ironically, she is the one among us all, who doesnt take spicy food. :P
The bowl is very big!!!

Not sure whats the name of this dish, let me just call it Unagi Stone Rice. Obviously fren C is the richest.

My Birthday Astrology

October 23 Birthday Astrology
Scorpios born on October 23 have the charismatic personality often found in those whose birthday falls on the cusp. They have a flair for putting themselves into situations where they will be noticed, then are likely to pull back when too much attention is accorded them.

Friends and Lovers
Those born on October 23 are romantic, even idealistic, about love. Romances are likely to be conducted surreptitiously; they like secrecy. They demand loyalty and will leave a relationship if there is a suspicion of betrayal. They often have friendships that allow them to express their unique personality.

Children and Family
October 23 individuals have extremely close family ties. They regard their brothers and sisters more as friends than siblings and may have forged close relationships with other relatives. They make affectionate, protective parents who are concerned with giving their children a sense of self-reliance and independence.

Health
People born on October 23 often strike a cavalier attitude about health and fitness. They tend to have a strong constitution and superior powers of physical and emotional endurance and may feel invulnerable to outside forces. They benefit from meditation before bed to promote deep sleep and productive dream patterns.

Career and Finances
October 23 individuals are drawn to careers that offer emotional and spiritual satisfaction. They need to be challenged and enjoy challenging others. Although skillful at handling financial matters, they are not ambitious about making money. Having the talent is more important than using it.

Dreams and Goals
People born on this date think big. They are not interested in the reasons why something cannot be done, only in how they can turn that negative into a positive. Although their goals may seem improbable, even impossible, to others, October 23 individuals embrace them without fear. They would rather be in chaos than boredom.

CNY Delicacies: Ngaku

It was Monday evening, after office hour that I suddenly had the mood to make ngaku. So on the way back home, I stopped by at Tesco and get some of the ingredients needed. I searched high and low and finally got it. ee..didnt know that the ngaku is wet and and slimy. I dont really have the idea in choosing good and fresh ngaku, so i kckc went near a girl who was also busy selecting there. I braved myself and asked her how to choose. Luckily, she was kind enough to teach me how to pick good ngaku and also gave me some secrets on how to make delicious crispy ones! Thanks alot :D So I decided to help her to spread her ajaran to you guys.. lets cook and enjoy this seasonal delicacies together.. :D

Ingredients:
- arrowhead (ngaku/chiku)

Method:

1) Clean the ngaku.

2) Remove the outer skin. Clean again and pat dry.

3) Peel the skin.

4) Slice them.

5) Now you have a bowl of have sliced ngaku.

6) Heat up the wok with plenty of oil. Throw one raw ngaku into the oil to test the temperature. (hahaha... TSD)

7) Deep-fry at low heat until it turns golden brown and crispy.

8) Dish and drain. Use a kitchen towel to absorb the excess oil. Add a pinch of salt to taste.

9) After the ngaku is cool, store in a air-tight container.

Tips:

1) So how to pick good ngaku? Normally people wll think that big is good, maybe they prefer big as it is easier to slice... but bigger means older. So choose the one that is not too big and not too small.. Moderate size is the best.

2) If you want to keep it for some time before cooking, choose a harder one. And also, dont remove the stick beneath. (fyi, it looks like garlic but the stick is at both top and bottom)

Simple Gift Wrapping Techniques

I always think that knowing how to wrap a gift is a useful skill as we are not just giving away presents on birthdays and Xmas, but also on many other occassions throughout the year..

Of course nowadays souvenir shops do offer gift wrapping services as well and moreover, it is free of charge. But wrapping the presents ourselves is like more meaningful by adding a personal touch into it. It is kind of a way to show that we are not only spending money in buying that present, but also putting a lot of effort in making it pleasant to be received :) Hence I always treasure a present that is nicely wrapped :P

So today I will show you guys how to wrap presents! The items are - a jar and a box. It is very simple and hope you will like it. :D

Materials:
- wrapping paper
- decorative ornament
- ribbon
- scissors
- cellophane tape

Steps:

1) Cut the paper in a size that is enough to cover the jar completely. Make sure there is extra few inches after covering it. Spread the paper and put the jar in the middle.

2) Wrap it and grasp the 4 edges of the paper tightly and tie with a ribbon.

3) Tie the flower ribbon and trim off the tail with a diagonal cut across the ends. Don't throw away the tail, keep it for other use. Bravo! We are done with the jar. :)
4) Now it is the time for the second item - rectangular shaped box. Place the box on the paper to roughly measure the size. Make sure there is extra at the edges after we have fold it over to cover the whole box.
5) If the paper is too big, you can trim it so that the remaining flaps are short enough to fold over smoothly into flaps. Here, I choose not to waste it and make it short by using other way.
6) Fold it in the middle and overlap the small portion several times to make some flaps. Repeat until the paper is small enough.
7) Wrap the box.

8) Put on the remaining ribbon. If the ribbon is not long enough to tie a bow across the box at 4 edges, try tie it at across the diagonals only.

9) Done!!!
Tips:

1) Remember to remove the price tag from the gift before wrapping it (unless it is expensive and you have the intention to let the person know :D)

2) If you want to hide the tape, you can use invisible non-glossy tape (Scotch tape) or double sided tape to adhere the wrapping paper.

Disappear

Disappear by Beyonce

If I beg and if I cry
Would it change the sky tonight
Will it give me sunlight
Should I wait for you to call
Is there any hope at all
Are you drifting by

When I think about it
I know that I was never held or even cared
The more I think about it
The less that I was able to share with you
I try to reach for you, I can almost feel you
You're nearly here
And then you disappear
(Disappear, disappear, disappear)
You disappear
(Disappear, disappear, disappear)

And then I lie all by myself
I see your face, I hear your voice
My heart stays faithful
And time has come and time has passed
If it's good it's got to last
It feels so right

When I think about it
I know that I was never held or even cared
The more I think about it
The less that I was able to share with you
I try to reach for you, I can almost feel you
You're nearly here
And then you disappear
(Disappear, disappear, disappear)
You disappear
(Disappear, disappear, disappear)
You, you disappear

I missed all the signs
One at a time
You were ready
What did I know
Starting our lives
No my love, I'm ready to shine

When I think about it
I know that I was never held or even cared
The more I think about it
The less that I was able to share with you
I try to reach for you, I can almost feel you
You're nearly here
And then you disappear
You disappear, you disappear
You disappear, disappear

My First Time

While walking to the carpark during lunch hours...
X: Kia kia, lets go buy..
SG: Buy what?
X: Shh.. later tell u..
SG: Okok

In the car, they told me the secret item they they gonna buy. Although I’m out this round but I feel excited for them as well. We reached the destination and looked around. They said the cheap bargain comes in a set of 3, but they planned to buy 5...So how? that means another 2 will be at normal price? All of them looked at me and smiled. Before they started to say anything.. I said buy lor.. thinking that don’t pour cold water ma.. but deep in my heart.. Im a bit worry cos I don’t know even know to use :S

So after work, we went to the restroom and tried it out. I started peeling off the cover..
SG: Mm.. it sticks very well ha..
X: Eh peel the foil, you are peeling the sticker on the foil..
SG: Oops.. sorry :D

After taking it out, I rinsed it and put it on my fingertip. It actually took a lot of courage to put it on my eyeball! They said don’t blink don’t blink.. I suddenly feel very sampat. Its like teaching me how to hold the pencil.. :D Finally after trying for hours.. kao tim!

I think by know you should have known what is it la.. contact lens? Of course no laa.. it is colored contact lens.. they said colored contact lens is harder to wear than normal contact lens.. but I did it! What a good job ive done...hehe..
